2025 EMT Course

The 2025 EMT Course through the Bear Creek EMS Program is now open to all eligible patrollers wishing to become National Registered Certified EMT-Bs. This is a modified course designed for patrollers and is approved by the Pa Bureau of EMS and the Eastern Pa EMS Council. Patrollers will build upon their skills by relying on their own experiences, material knowledge and skills throughout the course.

*The BC EMS Program works diligently to keep the tuition as low as possible and only charges a minimum fee to cover the operating and legal expenses associated with running a certification course.

 

Eligible Patrollers must meet the following Criteria


  • At least 16 years old (Minors must have parental permission and be 16 years old to sit for the NREMT written exam)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of active patrol experience (including candidate year)
  • A Pa Bureau of EMS approved CPR certification (AHA BLS Provider, Red Cross Pro Rescuer, etc.)
  • Complete their NIMS 100, 700 and Hazmat Awareness certifications ahead of time
  • A Patrol Director's Letter of Recommendation


The course is broken down into five sections


  • Self-Study - Review of material that is covered in depth in OEC
  • Classroom - Select chapters and topics will be covered in the classroom, including hands on scenarios
  • Clinicals - Candidates will obtain a minimum of 10 patient contacts while conducting ride a longs on the ambulance
  • Psychomotor Skills Exam - Candidates must successfully pass a BLS Psychomotor Skills (Practical) exam.
  • NREMT Written Exam* - Candidates will prepare for their written exam during designated classroom sessions. 


*Candidates are responsible for scheduling and paying the NREMT written exam fee.

04/28/2024 - NEWS **** PA EMS Registry URL Change

On Thursday May 2, 2024 the web address/URL for the PA EMS registry will be changing from:

  • https://ems.health.state.pa.us/registry    to 
  • NEW URL =  https://ems.health.pa.gov/registry
  • This change is expected to take place between approximately 13:30 and 15:30.


During this time the registry will be unavailable.


The original URL will redirect to the new URL for a period of 30 days. After 30 days the registry will only be able to be accessed using the new URL. 


Teaching an OEC - Outdoor Emergency Care Course ?

The OEC course has been approved for 24 Hours of EMS Credit.

ConEd Credits are automatically posted for patrollers with the following EMS Certifications when attending a EPA Region Registered Class.


  • EMR, EMT, EMT-A, EMT-P, PHRN, PHPE, PHP


Out of state EMS personal may apply for ConEd by Endorcement for credit.
