Ski Patrol has lost one of its longest serving members. On Friday, November
23, 2012, Dr. Walt Peters died. Walt joined the Camelback Ski Patrol in the
1966-1967 season and in 2002 received his long overdue National
Number(#9528). Walt was a dedicated resource to us all. Bringing his medical
knowledge and always more than willing to help with a difficult diagnosis.
Even during his last few seasons, when he was no longer able to ski, he
could be found helping out in the Patrol Room. To all of us who got to know
and learn from him; we are better patrollers, and better persons.

Patrollers of the Eastern Division-
Today the results of the vote to determine if the by-laws of
the National Ski Patrol should be revised were announced.
approximately 30% of all NSP Patrollers voted in the
election and 94% of those voting cast their ballots in favor
of the changes. These results mean both of the requirements
of Colorado law regarding member input into non-profit
organizations have been met in that more than 25% of the
members have cast ballots and more than half of those
members voting approved the proposed changes. In simple
terms this means that the proposed changes to the by-laws
have been approved and will be made. More details about the
vote results may be found on the National web site at
The next step will be the election of five new National
Board of Directors. Their election will be performed using
the newly approved member voting process. Your Region
Directors and I wish to thank you for casting your ballots
and for your patience and perseverance throughout this
process. We will keep you updated as the National Board
election draws closer.
